Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Women’s Centre?
We are a FEDs service, run by volunteers, who aim to provide and safe and supportive space on UW’s campus for all women. It is our goal to provide resources to all students who seek our assistance, regardless of age, gender, sex, ethnicity, religion, or even UW affiliation. Everyone is welcome to contact us!

Where is the Women’s Centre?
The Centre is located in the Student Life Centre on the University of Waterloo’s campus. We are on the second floor, in room 2102, just down the hall from GLOW. Just take the stairs right beside the Bomber up to the second floor and turn left, and that’s us!

What are Women’s Centre volunteers like?

There is a great diversity in our volunteers, all coming from different perspectives and backgrounds. We all share the common belief in working towards a positive environment for women both on campus and around the world.

Can men attend meetings and events?
Of course! Everyone is more than welcome to come out.

The Centre was closed when I went, when are you open?
Since the office is staffed by students it may be closed during regular office hours. We have an up-to-date schedule that you can take a look at. The students staffing the office try their best to be there on time and for the entire time, but things come up, and sometimes that is not possible. If the office is not open try during the next student’s office hours.

How do I start volunteering?
You can send an email our way and we will add you to the mailing list. Once you’re on there you will be informed of upcoming events. You can also come out to meetings, typically held Tuesdays @5:30PM in SLC 2102. Ask to be added to the key list if you’d like to hold office hours.

I don’t like your answers in the F.A.Q. may I ask you to improve them?
Come on out to a meeting and we’d be more than happy to improve, extend or clarify our answers. If you are unable to make it out to a meeting, please email us. You can find our information on the contact_us page.

I have a question that wasn’t answered here, who should I contact?
You can find all of our contact information on the contact_us page.
